Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

Looking for something to do on a Saturday in Richmond, VA? I recently went to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for the first time on Saturday (yes, it was HOT!). I’ve been to Phipps conservatory in Pittsburgh many times but really enjoyed the gardens and greenhouse, here. It was also quite large, with plenty of walking and exploration area.

The butterfly room is probably the coolest part of our visit. I’ve never seen so many vivid and lively creatures fluttering around. I must admit, they kind of creeped me out when they flew too close by. I was able to get some nice photos of them when they would land on a leaf or flower but, the prettiest ones seemed to be moving too fast for me to snap.

I’m wearing a jean jumper I found at a yard sale for $1.00 and a 90’s lace blouse underneath. My bag is a boho beaded satchel from the 1970’s. Sometimes in the south, it’s just too damn hot for too much fashion.
